Managing Content on Joomla

Joomla Administration basics

Managing Content in Joomla basically involves three processes.  The first of these is managing content by article, second is managing content via category and third managing content via section.  Joomla content structure is basically composed of three parts namely, section, category, and article.  The broadest among the three is section, followed by category, then article.  Joomla has yet to come out with a version that can further breakdown articles into smaller categories, but plans are in place for the company to launch one in the near future.

Event Management on Joomla Websites

A calendar is a handy tool that can be conveniently used for managing events and other relevant dates, which can help one to stay organized. Showing event information through a calendar helps visitors to get a bird’s eye view of the month / week at a glance. A first-rate calendar application also helps one to program jobs; and therefore a calendar takes an important place as an extension for any Joomla website. Following are the areas where a Joomla! Calendar extension can be effective:

Joomla based School website

For many schools, Joomla! is the favored content management system. The motive is obvious — in addition to lucrative deployment, Joomla offers an innate, simple user interface and striking learning curves. Schools process an extraordinarily huge amount of paper on every day basis. Also, they need to be able to reach out to a large population of parents and students. Both teachers and administrators need to be able to swiftly post notifications, uphold an up-to-date calendar of events, revise page content, and more.

To be efficient and effective, the school website thus can make a good use of a calendar extension to simplify their life and save some trees!!!

Joomla based Church website

A church needs to communicate events and publications to a wide variety of audience. These events range from social meetings and religious masses held on a recurring basis. These events can be private or public.

A calendar extension on the website can easily facilitate the organizing of private and public events. The administrator can track the attendees for a private event and may also use means like SMS to communicate in case of a special occasion.

Joomla based Society website

Apartment societies having a conglomerate of buildings and various amenities are the in things these days. But keeping every one of these thousands of residents informed about events might be a difficult task for the committee members. For example, informing people about the society charges due dates, maintenance times and dates of various facilities, gatherings during a festive season and annual general body meetings might be tedious without using a proper event management tool on a society website.

Joomla based Government website

A government website is an ideal location for a calendar extension. Be it declaring public holidays to the inviting response to public proposals, all can be just done through this simple plug-in.

Many of these extensions also have an easy integration with social websites like facebook and make it easy for the event to be pushed onto these sites as well.

Joomla based Charitable Trust website

Joomla! is a natural choice as a platform for developing a website for a charitable trust. The events like organizing charity meetings, blood donation camps, relief camps, educational programs and even meeting between the trustees can be effectively managed using a calendar extension on the website. Administrators can make use of the private and public events feature in calendar to help propagate the event to the right audience. For private events, invite can be sent out only to the desired set of people. Attendees can view the list of other attendees who might be attending the event.

Joomla based Community website

A calendar extension can find itself to be very useful on a community website. For the audience, it serves as a quick way of knowing about the events and keeping pace with what is happening in the community. For committee organizers, it serves as a good tool to reach out to the audience at the same time. All in all, the calendar extension can aid the community in bring it together with less effort and short time.

JTAG calendar an elegant, feature-rich Joomla Extension with 100% Joomla compliant code. Features such as SMS alerts, social bookmarks [Facebook, Twitter, Google + etc], event commenting, gravatar integration Google maps , and more; encapsulated in an apple ICAL- like interface makes JTAG calendar one of the most intuitive and socially aware applications available for Joomla.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has increasingly become important for many online businesses and individuals. Through proper SEO strategies, people have been able to drive traffic to their websites. It has also assisted many organizations in simplifying their websites such that people can navigate these websites easily. People can also benefit from high rankings on search engines thanks to proper SEO strategies. These strategies are also vital since they enable search engines to understand all the web pages and their significance to Internet users.

However, the benefits of SEO can only materialize with a proper Content Management System (CMS). This is in consideration of the fact that SEO largely deals with good content. This means that good SEO will always remain a mirage without the presence of a good CMS. Consequently, Joomla and good CMS are two words that should be used synonymously. Joomla has stood out as an effective CMS platform that works wonders for any SEO campaign. The reason for Joomla’s suitability for SEO activities finds basis in its numerous advantages. These benefits include:

· Friendly to search engines

Generally, Joomla has built a reputation of being a search engine-friendly CMS platform. This capability has proved to be a plus for various SEO activities. It allows web developers to develop sites that are in line with SEO requirements. Also, it spares the developers from nestled tables that would usually characterize HTML layouts. This makes for an easy reading for crawlers. Joomla is also compatible with search engines since it ensures that all URLs are devoid on query strings. As such, this means that users can easily access these sites from the search engines.

· Simplicity of use

Joomla takes pride in its built-in SEO feature, which means that using it is not technically challenging. After its installation, it does not need the expertise of a web developer to maintain it. The update, management, addition or editing of content is characteristically a simple process. All that is required is an astute knowledge of word processing and SEO strategies.

· Multiple languages

The multilingual feature is one other feature that makes Joomla the best CMS for SEO performance. This means that it can support numerous languages. Thanks to this feature, organizations or individuals can create Internet content in various languages. This enables them to reach as many users as possible.

· Affordability

Aside from its effectiveness, affordability could be the other feature that puts Joomla ahead of other CMSs. As a matter of fact, it is a free and open source. This enables both large and small organizations to use this CMS in enhancing their SEO activities. It does not come embedded with licensing costs in exchange for a highly functional CMS platform.

· Flexibility

Joomla has a wide array of development components and plugins. These features make it flexible for use in various SEO activities. Web developers can benefit from a large extension directory that allows them to use the numerous extensions and plugins for making their sites SEO-friendly.

· Better time management

With Joomla, web developers can save time while engaging in the creation of meta tags and tags. In this case, the process is always automated, which eliminates the need for manual creation of meta tags and tags. Under normal circumstances, this would be a tedious process that would take a lot of time to accomplish. Those affected in this regard would be those without prior knowledge of meta tags and tags.
